12. Examination of Conscience
Catholics should Confess these sins before receiving Holy Communion:
- Sins against The Ten Commandments.
- Sins that go against the precepts of the Catholic Church include.
- Not Attending Holy Mass: Not attending Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation without a grave reason.
- Not Confessing: Not confessing sins at least once a year.
- Not Receiving the Eucharist: Not receiving the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, at least, during the Easter season.
- Not Fasting and Abstaining: Not observing the days of fasting and abstinence established by the Church.
- Not Supporting the Church: Not helping to provide for the needs of the Church.
- The Seven Deadly Sins.
- Receiving the Holy Eucharist in the state of sin.
- Refusing to believe or doubting official Catholic doctrines and dogmas.
- Disrespect and irreverence shown towards GOD, Catholic religion, Saints, Consecrated souls and sacramentals.
- Refusing to acknowledge and pay one’s debt when one is already capable of doing so.
- Harbouring hatred or deep-seated anger towards someone.
- Looking at someone with lust and entertaining impure or uncharitable thoughts against him/her.
- Adultery, fornication, masturbation, homosexual acts and immodest touches.
- Watching pornographic and immoral videos/movies/shows.
- Vulgar talks/jokes and scandals.
- Taking part in non-Catholic worship or acknowledging and praying to false gods.
(These are just some of the common mortal sins necessary to be confessed to be in the state of grace)
